本校では中１～中３まで英語の特別クラスがあります。「英語ハイグレード」クラスと呼ばれる授業です。小学校時代に帰国子女として日本に戻ってきたり、英会話スクールなどですでに英語を習っていたり、イマ－ジョン教育を小学校時代に受けてきた人など…事情は違っても、すでに英語がある程度できるレベルにある生徒のための授業です。週６時間の授業では日本語を一切介さずに英語のみの授業が行われています。週の２時間はReadingに、２時間をWritingに、残りの２時間はCLIL (スキルよりも内容にウェイトを置いたレッスン) を行っています。WritingやCLILの授業ではi-padを積極的に利用して、スライドづくり➔プレゼンテーションを行っています。また、中３を終えるまでに英検２級を取得できるように指導していますが、その多くの生徒が結果を残して卒業しています。彼らの優れた英語力が将来活かされ、世界で活躍する人材に成長して欲しいです。

Our school offers a special English class from the first through the third year of junior high school.  The class is called the “English High Grade” class.  Students who returned to Japan from their elementary school days in an English-speaking country, who have already learned English at an English conversation school, or who have received immersion education during their elementary school days are eligible to join English High Grade classes.  The classes are designed for students who already have a certain level of English proficiency, even if their circumstances are different.  The 6 hours of weekly classes are taught in English only, without any Japanese language instruction.  Two hours per week are devoted to reading, two hours to writing, and the remaining two hours to CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning [Content-Based Learning]).  iPads are actively used in the writing and CLIL classes to create slides and presentations.  We also teach students with the goal of obtaining the EIKEN Level 2 by the end of the third year of junior high school, and many of our students graduate with successful results.  We hope that their excellent English skills will be put to good use in the future and that they will grow up to be globally active, resourceful humans.
